Why not organise a day out with friends or for your local horticultural group by calling one of the NGS’s many ‘by appointment gardens.’
The NGS has around 600 gardens who welcome visitors throughout the year ‘by appointment’, and garden owners are delighted to share their wonderful gardens.
Gardens that open ‘by appointment’ enjoy welcoming individuals, small groups or larger horticultural groups. Many gardens welcome coaches (see the garden entry in GardenFinder).
Some gardens would not be able to manage the large number of visitors on a normal open day, perhaps due to parking restrictions or size of the garden so they only open ‘by appointment’ - but the gardens are all of the same high standard. Other garden owners who give the NGS specific open days are also more than happy to share their garden with visitors ‘by appointment’ throughout the year.
You can even arrange times to suit your own plans – the NGS’s generous garden owners are very accommodating! You can enjoy the peace and quiet of a private visit, wander around the garden at your own pace and gain a more intimate experience of a garden. Feel free to ask the garden owner questions and it’s a fantastic opportunity to learn the secret of their growing success.
